Reprieve from Three-Digit Temps

July 6th to 8th

Pete was away on business trip for two weeks which equalled to three weekends worth of camping.  Brontë and I were stuck in Fort Collins, at our wit's end with figuring out ways to survive the heat wave.  We ended cooped up in house most of the time during which our new BFF, Ms. Air Conditioner, indefatigably blew her cool breeze on us.  (I dread receiving this month's electricity bill.)  Brontë and I carried on with our walk either as soon as we woke up in the morning or in the evening around 8 PM.  It was an arrangement that worked perfectly well for both human and canine.

After Pete returned, we resumed our adventures. We left for Red Feather Lakes on Friday, the 6th.  Halfway through our destination, a thunderstorm brewed.  Normally, I would feel upset of such weather conditions when camping but after two weeks of suffocating heat, it was definitely a welcome and pleasant change.  The rain continued throughout the weekend.  It really does pour when it rains.

We strolled around Dowdy Lake on Sunday morning when the rain finally stopped.  We were also able to take note of prime camping site locations in the park that we can reserve next time.

On our way back to Fort Collins, we saw scorched patches of the mountains ... a sad reminder of the High Park fires.
